Minutes for Jon. 6, 2004
Meeting 2 of 5 -Millikan High School
6:00 - 8:30 pm
Meeting was called to order promptly at 6:00 pm. All but 4 members were on time! (those late had a reason for being tardy)
Sandy Comer collected any balances due on membership or assigner fees.
Karen Gallizio corrected tests & recorded scores with the help of Janet Knoeppel. Jerry Caldwell moved that the minutes be approved as published. Thanks to Richard Davis for posting the agendas & minutes on our web site. He will also be posting the handouts given out at the first meeting.
Ballots for the election of 2004 OC President were collected & counted. Joyce Yuhashi Phelps will be the President with Karen Gallizio & Steve Wilkings co-President Elects for 2004.
A new type of starting equipment was demonstrated by Jerry Caldwell. It is available for purchase by CAS in Huntington Beach. It has a patch cord to allow it to start electronic equipment and a flash and a beep. It does not provide a means for amplifying the starter's voice. The power source is 8 AA batteries.
Janet Knoeppel requested availability updates and corrections of the roster handed out.
Test Correction involved the entire group. Rationale for question &/or answer and rule book references were discussed. Thanks to all of you who led the teaching of specific questions. Discussion also included several clarifications brought back from a SCAF instructional training held on Sunday, Jan 4, led by Doug Glaeser & Ed Ruth.
Doug Glaeser & Ed Ruth provided a copy of a power point presentation on the Rules with points of emphasis and diagrams. Thanks to Janet for providing and preparing her laptop and projector for this very valuable summary of many important safety concerns and rule clarifications.
Apologies to Karen Vandervoet for the delay in the presentation she
has organized for
small group discussions on rulebook interpretations. Her presentation will be carried forward to the next 1 or 2 meetings.
